Single Family Residential Yard Waste Programs

The new Minnesota State law (State Statute 115A.931-YARD WASTE PROHIBITION) requires that you now use compostable bags for your yard waste. The law was written to keep black plastic out of composting facilities, which creates an organic waste stream free of plastic. Compostable bags include; Kraft paper bags or compostable plastic bags that are usally clear or a tinted shade of green, white, or pink. However the color is not a sure way of determining the compostability of a plastic bag. Compostable plastic bags must state that they meet ASTM D6400 standards for composting and that they are “compostable”. Not all bags marked “biodegradable” or “degradable” meet the state law. Most home improvement, grocery and hardware stores carry compostable bags. If you don’t see them at your local store, ask an employee.

As a Randy’s Environmental Services customer, your trash service includes one yard waste collection per month, at no additional charge. All service levels are allowed 4 bags per month. The collection of the 4 bags will be on your service day, the third full week of the months April through November.  2012 Yard Waste Collection Weeks are highlighted on the calendar (click here).

Extra bags of yard waste will be taken. They are billable at $2.00 per bag.

The yard waste service outlined above is sufficient for most households. However, some of our customers can rake up multiple bags and find a need for a larger service for grass and leaves. For those we have two options:

Option 1: Additional pickups.
If additional pickups are needed on weeks other than the 3rd full week of the month, call our customer service department to schedule. The collection of bags of leaves or grass are billed at $2.00 per bag, bundles of brush are billed at $2.50 per bundle with a $16.00 minimum. To schedule an on-call yard waste collection, click here.

Option 2: Our Extended Yard Waste Program. This program allows you to have all bagged grass clippings or leaves, and 2 bundles of brush taken each week. (Brush needs to be tied in bundles you can fit your arms around. The brush can be no longer than 4’ and no larger than 2” in branch diameter. Extra bundles of brush will be taken. They are billable at $2.50 each).

The 2012 Extended Yard Waste Program fee is $78.00 for the season.
The Extended Yard Waste season begins on your service day the week of April 2, 2012 and will end on your service day the week of November 19, 2012 (Weather permitting). To subscribe to our Extended Yard Waste Program, click here.

The extended yard waste program automatically renews each year. The 2012 seasons fee will appear on your quarterly statement in February, March or April. If you do not wish to subscribe in 2012, please call customer service prior to March 23, 2012, to have the service fee removed from your account.

Only Randy’s trash customers can subscribe to our yard waste program.

There is no credit for late sign up or early termination.

As with all waste, we restrict bag weight to 40 lbs.

Yard waste is collected by a separate truck, which has a separate route.

Please have all yard waste to the curb by 6:00am on collection day.

All of Randy’s service fees are subject to an Environmental Fee and a fluctuating Fuel-cost Adjustment .
